Port of Ranier

Ranier, MN is the gateway to Rainy Lake and Voyageurs National Park. There are many attractions and businesses in the historic community of Ranier.

Ranier is located near International Falls, MN on beautiful Rainy Lake and Rainy River. It is said to be the Gateway to the Heart of the Continent- an area spanning the international border that contains the largest expanse of public green space in the heart of North America, including voyageurs National Park, the Boundary Waters Canoes Area Wilderness and Quetico Provincial Park.

Rainy Lake is a world class fishery with a total of 227,604 surface acres. It is known for its excellent fishing with a wide variety of species including walleye, sauger, perch, northern pike, smallmouth bass, and crappie. The scenic lake of pines and granite rock is approximately 60 miles long and has 929 miles of shoreline, with another 635 miles around it’s 1,600 island. approximately 36,418 acres of Rainy Lake are within Voyageurs National Park.

Voyageurs National Park was established April 8, 1975 and now days has approximately 250,000 visitors per year.

When visiting Ranier, Rainy Lake, and Voyageur’s National Park be sure to visit Woody’s, Spruce Street Landing, Grandma’s Pantry, Duluth Street Dock, Spruce Street Dock, Ranier Beach, Seven Oaks Park, Ranier Park, Big Vic Statue, Tara’s Wharf, and the Voyageurs National Park Headquarters. Some local hot spots East of Ranier on Rainy Lake are Northernaire Houseboats, Rainy Lake Houseboats, Thunderbird Lodge, Island View Lodge, Sha Sha Resort, and Rainy Lake Visitors Center.
